Our foundation was named after the Greek philosopher Zeno of Citium
A lack of hygiene products at home can disrupt a child’s learning and social development at school. The ZENO Foundation fills this void by creating specialised Essential Hygiene Packs and distributing them to selected schools and school children. The ZENO Foundation is an easy to use charity platform - linking people who wish to support a meaningful cause in the world, to school children who need hygiene products. Our gifting system is specifically designed to be as cost efficient as possible, to create the maximum positive impact.
While on the face of it, hygiene may seem like a small issue or a ‘drop in the bucket’, for the wider poverty problem in our communities not having hygiene products can have adverse, lasting emotional effects for a child. It can result in being bullied, not attending classes, not being involved in sporting pursuits, or even dropping out of school early. You can help us change these possible outcomes - together we can make a difference!
Hygiene Care Packs include (as a minimum):
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Deodorant
- Shampoo
- Baby Wipe
- Soap
The ZENO Foundation is very different to most charities: we bypass parents and gift our Care Packs directly to children. We do this because sad as it is, some households barely have enough income for food, so we bypass the parents’ financial decision-making processes by giving the packs to children via school support staff. So even if funds are low in a child’s household, they will still benefit from the Care Pack – not other family members.
School support staff have an innate grasp of the dynamics and the complexities of their students’ families. With school support staff as our distribution helpers, we can help the children who need Essential Hygiene packs the most.

We Reach Out To Communities
The ZENO Foundation works with schools and discusses the needs of their students. We then reach out to large companies and suppliers to explain how they can help us with our mission.
We Do It Because We Can And Because IT'S RIGHT
ZENO Foundation team members volunteer their time and are fully committed to contributing to the change needed in our communities. Our targeted, maximum impact approach has led to wonderful results. Our feedback shows the Essential Hygiene Packs empower and encourage children, support self-esteem and self-confidence - resulting in higher participation in class, sport and academia.
ZENO 'Maximum Impact’ Process
We design Essential Hygiene Packs then arrange for the products to be purchased and sent to ZENO Foundation headquarters, in New Zealand. We discuss student needs, seek business support partners, select products, package up the Essential Hygiene Packs and distribute them to school support staff. Essential Hygiene Packs can be purchased for children simply by making a donation on our website. Or monetary donations can be made, without purchasing an Essential Care Pack. The packs are delivered during school terms to school support staff, who work closely with the ZENO Foundation to ensure the Packs are given to children who need them the most.
The ZENO Foundation Runs on Goodwill
Our financial running costs are absorbed by ZENO team members. We GUARANTEE that 100% of all monetary donations are converted into Essential Hygiene Packs for our school partners, for the betterment of students and by proxy, the wider community. This is a very important distinction between ZENO and other charities!
