WHO WAS ZENO

The Zeno foundation is named after the Greek philosopher Zeno

From Citium, in Cyprus.

About Zeno From Citium

Zeno from Citium, was originally a merchant trader before suffering a ship wreak near Athens 300bce, once on land he stumbled upon the readings of Socrates and began to study philosophy. Through his own studies and teachings, he originated the concept of stoicism, which supported virtue, tolerance, and self-control. The original philosophy of stoicism was that the “everything around us operates according to a web of cause and effect” and “while may not always have control over the events affecting us, we can have control over how we approach things”.

Stoicism stressed that we all share the same fundamental humanity and it became the dominate philosophy from the Hellenistic period through to the roman era.

By Studying Zeno

This has inspired us to make the change we wish to see, yes, lives are very busy, yes, there are many other causes in the world to support, however, our approach was to take a grass roots concept of gifting a bar of soap and some deodorant to school children who don’t have those luxuries in their homes, so they can go to school and not be bullied, pitied and ostracised and therefore may miss out on the their education that all children (regardless of demographic ) need and are entitled too.

Zeno Says

“Wellbeing is attained by little and little, and nevertheless is no little thing itself”
“All the good are friends of one another”
“Happiness is a good flow of life”
“Better to trip with your feet than with your tongue”
“All things are parts of one single system, which is called nature, the individual life is good when it is in harmony with nature”
“Man conquers the world by conquering himself”
“The reason why we have two ears and only one mouth is that we may listen more and talk the less”
